Social Housing

In the short requirements of the project, it is requested to design single family residences in the area called Laz District, where the existing residences in poor structural condition will be demolished and replaced with more efficient
ones for the exercise. It will be designed not only in terms of design layout, but also in terms of environmental and structural efficiency. The typology of the residential units will be for row houses and a single family.

Developing architectural details of the project which designed in Building Construction Project I course. Make project take-offs based on the project and the details, and developing initial cost estimations and work schedule.

Co-working Space

Students are asked to design a compact coworking/learning space in Kalabak, Urla. The space will function as a mini research institute that is expected to spin-off start-up formations, research teams etc. As a pilot application backed by the higher education council(YÖK) the model is expected to be implemented in several locations as plug-in research hubs.

Concert Hall

Students will be expected to design their own hall (for music or speech purposes) by drawings and calculations. They will propose an initial design and improve it throughout the semester. The project submission is going to include information about sound absorption coefficients of materials, reverberation time, geometry of the hall and the layers of the building elements.

Musical Therapy Center

Urla sees itself as a prosperous and forward-thinking municipality who is aware of the accepted benefits of music therapy and is promoting this project. The centre will offer a range of services to the community as mentioned above. This may be a one to one consultation or participation in a group session. There will also be residential courses where people can benefit from the ‘glamping’ area within the gardens. It will offer various music/ sound therapy interventions, with varying spatial requirements.

It is important to recognise that the surrounding landscape forms part of the healing environment and should be designed accordingly. In this therapy, sound is used as a healing device so it is important that the ‘aural landscape’ that you are creating both inside the building and in the landscape is optimised.
